Im Using the latest version of audacity with windows vista. im lusing a microsoft lifechat 3000 microphone as well and anytime i record i always get this humming sound the kind that makes it sound like your talking on a mic

That is very strange. That headset/mic combination says it has a noise-cancelling microphone. It sounds like you've got the mic lying on a table next to your computer and it's picking up the fan noise/rumble. How are you using it? When you talk into it, what is the relative volume of your voice versus the background noise? If this is indeed the LX-3000 headset/mic combination, the microphone is meant to be used very close to your mouth.

im wearing the headset like its supposed to be worn as for what its like when we talk into it heres a clip from my friend talking in a sarcastic tone for one of are videos

as u can see the humm is still there even to the voice diaglog and we do wear the headset relatilvly far from the computer
