Dell Dimension 3000 Record Stereo Mix

Post by squewheet » Tue Nov 03, 2009 12:51 am

On my old pc that just died. I had Audacity and I could record music off the net that was streaming or that was on video's. But now I am using my sisters pc for a bit. And I can't seem to be able to get it to work. I have it set to stereo mix and everything. But when I play the music on the net and then hit record in Audacity. It don't work. Does anyone know why this might be happing or might know how to fix it thanks.

That sounds promising.

It records a flat blue line? or it crashes the computer? or it gives an error message "Don't wake me before 11"?

I'm guessing the first...

Is this Vista or XP?

Is there a little icon near the Desktop "time / date" that looks like a loudspeaker? If there is, double click it, or right click it and open up the Sound Card Mixer panel.
You need to find the 2 sets of controls - one set are for playback and another set are for recording. Make sure that Stereo Mix is selected and that the recording volume is set.
