Audacity 1.2.x is now obsolete. Please use the current Audacity 2.1.x version.

The final version of Audacity for Windows 98/ME is the legacy 2.0.0 version.

help getting started with audacity

I've downloaded audacity and Lame, but I don't have a clue how to get my ringtones to my cell phone. Could someone please walk me through it?

This is the wrong forum for this question, in the future please ask at the forum specific to your operating system.

Here's a basic tutorial on getting Audacity setup right:
http://www.guidesandtutorials.com/audac ... orial.html

The basic idea is that you'll import your audio file (you can drag and drop the file right onto the Audacity window to do this), use the basic tools to cut out everything you don't want, then highlight a very short section at the beginning and end of the file and use the Fade In and Fade Out effects (to avoid any popping sounds). At this point, you need to Export to mp3.

From here, it's up to you, I don't know how to send files to your phone.
