USB Microphone not working

Post by bucks25 » Thu Oct 22, 2009 7:37 pm

I am using a Microphone with a USB input, but it is not working. Is there any way that I can change the setting to be able to use the USB microphone?

Many USB microphones start working when you reset Audacity Preferences to 44100, 16-bit, Mono. Edit > Preferences.

You may need to restart Audacity for the changes to work. You won't necessarily be able to hear your self right away, that's additional settings. Do you get the red record meters bouncing when you make a short recording?

I had an issue with my voice being barely heard when I spoke into my mic,I use a USB headset w/mic ... I had in my first row my voice being recorded, and in the second row was a clip from a music track I sliced from a song. When I played it back I could barley hear my voice, as if it were being muffled real bad. I switched their positions and it sounded great with a few minor adjustments. I'm not sure if that was the problem you may have had or not but I thought I'd share just in case. Hope you get it fixed.
