Dissapearing Audio

Hi,
I've been editing a multitrack podcast and Audacity had been working fine. Now, out of nowhere, bits of my audio have dropped out. I can see the audio there, but it goes silent every now and then for periods of time. This is just within one of the tracks. The rest seem to be ok. Any idea why this would happen and how to correct it?
Any help would be incredibly appreciated!

You're working on a Project or you Saved a Project, right? Projects are not sound files. Audacity will not save a sound file. An Audacity Project creates your show from all the millions of components and snippets and small sound files on your computer. Did you notice that all the missing pieces are from one place, event or song?
Is that interview or song still where you left it? Does it have the same name as it did? Same folder?
The blue waves on the timeline come from two graphics files, so they can easily get out of step with the show.
A favorite but all too common problem is including music from a Music CD in your show. Remove the CD and the show falls over in the dirt. The AUP file's job is to point to the music at the right time, not actually copy it into the show.
While the show is still in one piece, Export As WAV to get an actual sound file. You can also tell Audacity in the preferences to copy all your music into Audacity, so this problem should never happen again.

Unless, that is, you have changed the default setting in Preferences to actually copy the audio clip in - this is labelled as the "safer" option and is much safer than the default "faster" option.
IMHO this is a very dangerous default.
I would always recommend that you make this change - unless you really know what you are doing and understand the implications of using the "faster" option.
