I've got a macbook from my school, and last week I needed to hand it in for maintenance. Now that I have it back the short keys are not working. (E.G. before maintenance I could for example pres Fn + F1 to decrease the brightness of the screen)
I know I should contact my school about it, but I was just wondering if anyone had a quick solution which could fix this problem.
P.S the question is related while using my macbook with windows xp.
Macbook windows related question?

Try Restore Defaults. Or at the bottom of that list is the Screen Brightness controls. I don't need the Fn key. My screen brightness goes up and down with straight F1 and F2. You may have had a special setting and the default is no Fn key.
I seem to recall at first birthday the machine asked me if I wanted the F keys or the alternate functions as default. So that's a setting somewhere.
