(L)side only -- Stereo Mix problem = Whistling/Humming sound
I read all the pages the site told me to and I didn't see anything with my problem. I have my audacity set up to record what my 'speakers hear' - Which it does........but if I record silence............................... I get a slight humming/Whistling type of noise on the (Left side only) of the Audacity recording. The right side is fine = and is actually recording sound.
I don't hear any noise or interference through my headphones when there is no sound coming from my speakers ... other then when I hit play in Audacity after recording.
And Just to clarify - While I'm recording (with the dB setting) through Audacity you can see this [green] activity / "Noise" in the meter toolbar moving around the 2nd tick in above the mic symbol. After recording, when I hit play, the [red] volume meter where the speaker symbol shows volume movement moving around the 2nd tick mark as well. There's no movement at all on either or for the other side of the stereo recording.

Let's take that again from a slightly different angle. When you're recording sound both channels work perfectly. When the show sound stops but you continue to record, you get a very quiet sizzling sound on the left.

The hissing / humming sound that is only on the left side happens throughout the recording and is completely noticeable when there is no sound or the sound is real quiet . I usually cut the sound from the beginning and cut / fade the end out, so it is somewhat un-noticeable. But I use my sound recordings for sampling "hip hop"....through my mpc. So the cleaner the better when it comes to playing it loud on the monitor speakers. Sometimes it seems like it starts when the volume gets low enough to a certain dB and other times I can hear it real clearly in the background no matter what I do. It sounds like interference that you'd get from a hand held (Ham Radio). Again ......strange because the right side records clear as day.

Nowhere is it written that recording Mix-Out will provide you with Only Mix-Out. It's possible to have other connections and services running -- and some of them may be contributing the noise. If you have your Mic-In running without a microphone connected, that could be noisy and that would only show up on Left.

The bad news is that it's possible to have a sound card do this internally, too. My sister has a sound card that is noisy on one channel. It just is, no matter what I select or turn on and off.

I do have an Mbox for recording my guitar and bass but I've never had any problems with it like this recording through Pro Tools / Reason / or Sonar....I have a mic too but I keep it unplugged when I'm not using it for that Just-N-Case Factor. Also a couple of keyboards but I've moved each away from my pc and I still have interference. I also tried moving my sub away from my pc and that wasn't the answer either. It's weird that it could be my sound-card though. I use AISO to and from my Mbox, for (my D.A.W. gear) -- Spdif for playback from (Daw) and anything else = just regular Realtek, which is what I have Audacity recording through. My goal was to record Online Radio Stations in other languages for my sampling needs .... but it's pointless if the recording quality is Guna-B bad.
BTW - I installed my old sound-cards (SoundBlaster - and my old Nvidia Sound-card) ........and they didn't work either, same problem ( Interference from the Left Channel )
Also thanks for the link -- I read through it but it's everything I went through already. I'm using the record through stereo mix option if that helps.
