Cutting and pasting the label track

Hello all. Newb here.

I would like to put short labels on the label track. I'd like them to be spaced 0.125 seconds apart, and I'd like that situation to continue for the next 3 minutes.

Can I just lay down the first 4 labels and then copy and paste them a whole bunch of times? I don't actually care what the labels say, I just want to use them as markers for this particular project.

Is such a thing possible or have I got the wrong idea about label tracks? Should I be using some other method to acheive my aim?

Thanks for reading.

You really need to upgrade to 1.3.9 wher a new feature has been added to make this much easier

In 1.3 you can go to Analyze > Regular Interval Labels and then use the dialog box to set up your required labelling.

You can get 1.3.9 from here: http://audacityteam.org/download/beta_windows

Thanks waxcylinder (better not call you wc!).

Unfortunately the spiffy little netbook that the New South Wales government has gifted me does not allow me to intall software (it's a long, tedious story). It is on this machine that I have to use Audacity (I use Logic Studio on my "real" computer ;) ).

Audacity looks like a great program, actually, a brilliant program for freeware. I've figured out a work-around of sorts, but it would be great to get away with doing the copying and pasting I mentioned above. From your answer I gather it's not a goer?

If I could run Audacity from a USB drive then I'd get the upgrade, but I don't think that's possible. Maybe someone could confirm?

Cheers.

Mark,

yes you can install a portable Audacity from a USB drive - see this page from the Wiki: http://wiki.audacityteam.org/index.php? ... e_Audacity

And no you don't get the regular interval labelling in 1.2.x - it was a new feature intruduced in one of the 1.3 releases.
