I've been using audacity for years without problems. Starting yesterday, when I click record, the window opens but nothing happens. You can see an image here http://i136.photobucket.com/albums/q184 ... dacity.jpg
I have tried rebooting and still doesn't work. I can import sound files and work with them fine.
I also tried downloading the software and re-installing. BTW, I did download the software to my laptop and it worked fine there.
Any help would be welcome.

Re: Problems starting recording
rickipll,
Before chucking your computer or buying a new or USB sound card, double-check your control panel settings, your Audacity preferences, and your record device selection in your Audacity Mixer Toolbar. Try recording from a different device, eg., microphone instead of line-in, etc. Does this "hang" Audacity in the same way ?
For more detailed instructions, check out Mixer Toolbar Issues in the wiki.
Many people have had very good luck with the 1.3.9 beta, particulary Windows Vista users. There are still a few bugs left in the beta, but "most" of them are closely related to the new features, and most converts are happy campers.
I hope this helps.
