Audacity Team,
I hate to say it, but I'm having problems with Audacity getting started with the simplest of tasks. I'm trying to take 5 tracks from a CD and convert them into files that can be edited with the Audacity softwares. Every time I try to do this, Audacity rejects the file or suggests importing in raw format. I do not know what to do with the files in Audacity once they are in raw format.
All I simply want to do to start out, is take these 5 CD tracks and cut one track basically in half at a pause and then decrease the time span between Tracks 1-3. Can someone please give me simple step by step instructions to get started?

Re: Audacity Novice
You can't directly edit Music CD sound files. They're in a special format. Rip the CD with CDEX or other CD ripping program.

I ripped with CDEX but still unable to import to Audacity and edit. Can you provide specific instructions for how to import from CDEX? I'm new to this forum as well. Is there an Audacity Team member that I should be addressing these starter questions to? Thanks
