So when I try to record over another track it has the beat from the other track in the recording. I have headphones plugged in and the volumes turned down so there's no leaking. Though, I don't think the recording device has been specified. The drop down box is grayed out.
operating system: windows xp
audacity:1.2 stable
and im recording through a computer mic that plugs directly into
Please help me out, and keep it simple please.

Re: Recording Problem
Open the Windows Mixer (loudspeaker icon near the clock in lower right corner of the desktop) and set the recording input to Microphone instead of Stereo Mix.brainlord wrote:So when I try to record over another track it has the beat from the other track in the recording.
