Hi!
I want to use Audacity to make recordings (44.1 Khz, 16 bit) using and Asus EEE PC 901. I did some 2-hour tests that were without errors / glitches, using an Edirol EU-25EX (USB sound card).
My question is if I can expect any issues while making recording for a longer period of time using the Asus? In other words, is it the Asus fast enough?
Any thoughts will be highly appreciated!
Thanks in advance,
Peter

If you managed to record more than a few minutes, then it is clearly fast enough. It may struggle if you try to multi-track.
Note that audio recording and editing uses a LOT of disk space - take care that you do not inadvertently fill the drive.

Re: Using Audacity on Asus EEE PC 901
Hi Steve (the fiddle)
No multi-track, just stereo. I should have enough space for a few recording sessions, and the I will burn it either to a DVD, or put the recording on a portable HD. The little editing I will do will be no more that fade-in - fade-out, but I will do that on my desktop.
I am just amazed that Audacity can do a better job than the bloated software I got with the Eridol I bought...
Thanks for the info!
Regards,
Peter

It's good to know that Audacity actually works on an EEEPC + USB sound card. Makes a nice, portable, high quality recording solution.

Re: Using Audacity on Asus EEE PC 901
Hello Steve,
Yes, I like the idea. The EEE PC should be powerful enough, and it's pretty light. Even the Edirol USB device is easy to carry along... I should be fine.
I will use the setup in November. My fiancée will perform together with a friend a friend of hers in a number of places in the USA, and they need to make a demo-CD. She plays piano, and her friend plays trumpet. I hope things will work out
Thanks again!
