Time Lapse on Second Track

I've been having a problem with recording over a track. The second track is always a little bit off timing-wise. I tested it out and figured out that there is a .20 second delay whenever you record over something. The only way to fix this is to delete the first .20 seconds of the second track than they'll be perfectly together. I don't know if this is the same by every computer. (The way I figured out .20 seconds was by creating a click track and than playing it back/ recording it over again and it showed a .20 second delay between the click of the first track and the second track.) Is there any way that Audacity can automatically compensate those .20 seconds. Because it's a bit bothersome to have to go ahead and delete the first .20 seconds of every track you record (excluding the first track.) Thanks for the help!
PS. I'm recording music, so it's important everything stays on beat.

Latency compensation adjustment is available in Audacity 1.3.x
Edit menu > Preferences > Recording tab > Latency Correction

There is a section in the manual about testing latency http://manual.audacityteam.org/index.ph ... tency_Test

0.2 seconds is a LOT of latency and suggests that either your sound card or your computer are running very inefficiently. There are some tips here that may improve performance http://wiki.audacityteam.org/index.php? ... aybackTips
