electric guitar effect
if I'm recording an acoustic guitar, is there an effect that will make it sound like an electric (with clean or distortion)? I don't have an electric guitar or amp here with me, but I'd like to know how it would sound.

Re: electric guitar effect
You can probably apply the leveler at highest setting. That should create the overblown distortion typical of electric guitars. If you like the effect, you can apply it more than once.
However, making your hollow-body sound like a clean Fender is a lot harder. You may be outta luck on that one.
If your Audacity doesn't have Effects > Leveler, then you can install Audacity 1.3 and get it there. You can put both 1.2 and 1.3 on your computer as long as you only use one at a time. Audacity 1.3 Projects will not open up in 1.2.
