Audacity 1.3.9. Trying to lower the bitrate (hence, file size) on an MP3 file. The instructions tell me to select Options on the Export popup. However, I only get a popup to Edit Metadata when selecting Export. Where are the Options, and how do I change the Export bitrate? Thanks.
PS: I just realized this should have been posted in the Unstable 1.3.x forum. Sorry.

Re: Change Bitrate on MP3 Export
After you make it past the meta-data dialog (which you can turn off in preferences), Audacity should present you with an export panel with an options button.
Of course, you need to have the extra 'lame' software loaded to export MP3.
You also need to know that MP3 compression causes damage and it's far worse if the original music is already compressed.

Re: Change Bitrate on MP3 Export
Thank you, I see it now. I must have seen that panel a dozen times, but somehow assumed that button pertained to where I wanted to export the MP3. The quality of my speakers is such that a little degradation is not noticeable. By the way, how would I know if the original MP3 was already compressed?
PS I went back to an old post - http://forum.audacityteam.org/viewtopic ... ate#p43436. Now it makes sense. I guess I wasn't the only person to miss the Options button.
