Cannot Listen & Record Simultaneously
I'm using Audacity with an M-Audio FastTrack and would like to record a new audio track while listening to a pre-existing track. I get an "Error while opening sound device. Check input device settings and project sample rate". I have both I/O settings on "Line : Fast Track", and "Play other tracks while recording new one" is selected. I have my headphones plugged into the FastTrack, and the FastTrack is set on 'mono' and 'Line', since I have only one external mic that I'm using. I've tried different project rates, and all other possible I/O settings in the dropdown menu. I can hear the existing track just fine through the FastTrack & headphones, but cannot record a new track. I'm using an HP laptop that is an early 2007 model running Vista, with a less than spectacular onboard Conextant sound card. I'm able to record new tracks just fine. Any ideas?
