Re: Audaity Software shutting my computer down
That's enough assuming it's defragmented and error free, but even if it's not, it will crash Audacity, not the computer.
I'm about out of ideas. Let's see what the rest of the Audacity elves think.

Re: Audaity Software shutting my computer down
A while back Koz gave this advice to someone suffering a similar problem:
This is the full thread: http://forum.audacityteam.org/viewtopic.php?f=12&t=7660
The original poster, as you can see from the thread, never came back to say if they got it workig.
But I do suspect that you do have an unstable PC ...

I suspect you have a very unstable machine. How full is your hard drive? No production machine hard drive should be over 90% full.
If that's OK, go into drive Properties > Tools and do the drive error checker--check only. I probably wouldn't do a defragmentation until we find out more. Or do the fragmentation inspection only and see what the display looks like. If it's covered in red lines, that's not a good thing.
If all that seems OK, Microsoft makes a really nice memory tester...

...run that overnight.
