Lost project file - save recording / join au files?

Hi there. I have a 6 hour recording but lost the project file.
So all I have are ~5800 *.au files with 1MB each. How can I open them in Audacity so it's a continuous track in Audacity?
I tried some raw file joiner but it doesn't work (of course).
Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

The files go left, right, left, right. That kills most raw file managers. One of the Audacities didn't number them sequentially, either. This happened enough that one of the developers wrote very good rescue tools.

We do warn people that Windows is not open ended as far as file size. There are still hitches at 2GB and 4GB and you can't export a WAV over 4GB. We have people who recorded great number of hours, but it was very difficult and the hardware requirements were very strict. You can't do this with a netbook laptop.
6 Hours, that's about 4.4 GB which means you need perfectly clear, error-free, defragmented drive space over 10GB. You can't use a super large drive, either, those are slow and will not manage real-time audio.
It's possible you're going to get your show back together and just have it crash again.

Thanks a lot Koz. I recovered everything using Audacity Recovery Utility.
Phew, I was very sure there would be an easy way

Well done, glad you got it back. And now make sure you export a WAV file as a security copy ...
