hi, i am very new to Audacity and working with sounds si i have one newbie question - is it possible to set to a desired tract to play in loops over and over again during the playback of another track?
for example - i have a 5 minutes long song as TRACK01 and i want it to play as the background; i want to mix it with another TRACK02 which is a short voice like "Hooray Hooray" for example. and i want to mix these two track to play "Hoorah Hoorah" over and over again during the length of the background track.
is this possible?
thanks a lot.

Audacity 1.2.x is now obsolete. Please use the current Audacity 2.1.x version.
The final version of Audacity for Windows 98/ME is the legacy 2.0.0 version.

Yes - Audacity is a mult-track editor.
We don't seem to have a Wiki feature or tutorial on multi track recording and editing (there was a post about this in the Feature Request section recently IIRC).
However this tutorial on podcasts is very close to what you need to do: http://wiki.audacityteam.org/index.php? ... h_Audacity

Re: Looping Tracks in audacity?
I can't identify a way to loop, but here's a simple workaround: copy and paste until you have as many repetitions as you want.
You have a sample, so copy it and paste it on the end of itself. Then copy the whole thing and paste. Then copy the whole thing and paste again.
Do this 10 times on a 2 second track and you'll have more than 34 minutes of looping sample.
Good luck!

Sorry wlashack,
I was working in a hurry and didn't your post properly - apologies.
But I think that aaron is right - I don't think there are loop facilities in Audacity (I seem to recall previous posts about this getting negative responses).
Aaron's workaround will work - but to try to avoid click/noise at the joins, try to ensure that the start and end points of the clip start on "zero crossings"
