Hello. I am having a bit of trouble. When I play an existing project it sounds great, but when I try to record a new track the playback of existing tracks sounds crazy...tinny, static, not-at-all-right...I can't figure out what the problem is.

I'm using version 1.2.6
Using external M-Audio FastTrack for recording and playback

I've had no problems in the past, but have recently installed on a new computer after a period of not recording.

I believe the M-Audio equipment uses ASIO drivers that Audacity doesn't support. See if there are Windows drivers for your sound device.

That and simultaneous record and playback puts a high stress on the sound system and the computer internal processing. People get burned by this when they give up the old deskside PC with separate powerful sound card and graduate to a nice laptop.
