how do I get songs onto audacity? Also, I want to take a song and split it up into multiple parts. How do I do that?

Have a read of the "Tips" and "Tutorials" sections of the Audacity wiki. (Links at top of page). There's lots of useful information there to help you get started.

One of the most common mistakes that people make is to think that Audacity will save an audio file - it doesn't - When you use "Save" in Audacity it creates a project file and a data folder. These are not normal audio. To get a normal audio file from Audacity you need to use "Export".
