I'm in Limbo
I installed Audacity 1.2.6. When I went to Programs(on my comp) and hit audacity, a gray popup appeared but it froze my computer and I had an hourglass icon for a pointer. I then restarted my comp, and tried again. Same thing. I then installed Audacity 1.3.9 and when I attempted to run it, I got:" The system has detected another copy is running, may cause data loss. Use the new or open command in the currently running Audacity to open multiple Audacity simultaneously". I then uninstalled 1.2.6 and restarted my comp. When I attempted to run 1.3.9. I got the same message . I then uninstalled 1.3.9. and windows said some parts of 1.3.9 are not uninstalled and need to be done manually(which I don't know how to do). So now at this stage I should have both 1.2.6 and 1.3.9 uninstalled(except for some of 1.3.9. which for some reason need to be manually uninstalled). I then restarted my computer. I then downloaded Audacity 1.3.9 again and got the same "The system has detected another copy is running...." again. I uninstalled 1.3.9 again and installed 1.2.6 and got the same message. I have never been able to run either program, and don't see any way to completely wipe out or open an Audacity program. I am stuck in limbo. I would really appreciate anything you could throw at me, and I will immediately follow the directions. Thank you.
Re: I'm in Limbo
Update---I managed to clear all remnants of Audacity, then started over with the downloading of 1.2.6 . But every time I try to pull it up from Programs, it only registers on my tool bar on the bottom of the screen. Clicking on it on the tool bar doesn't bring it up, it just changes shades. Or, the Audacity program will appear, but if I move my pointer on it, my pointer turns into an hourglass indefinitely. I also can not close the Audacity program by right clicking the 'Audacity' icon in the toolbar, or rightclicking the audacity program when I have the hourglass. So that means every time I click Audacity in Programs on my comp, I eventually have to restart my computer if I want to get rid of the Audacity program(that I couldn't engage from the onset). I have no idea what to do, but I really want to use Audacity.

Never mind, I've moved on.
