recording on one continuous track

I'm new to Audacity so this may be an obvious question: When I am reading a story and have to stop occasionally to re-record a section, a new track begins. When I tried to do Noise Removal after reading the story (now on several different tracks) to my dismay I had all the tracks piled on top of one another! How do you make a single track while still being able to stop and edit?

In 1.2 you can't easily. In 1.3 you can append after stopoing redording and editing with the kyboard shortcut
Shift+R
1.3.9 has just been released (1.3 is pretty stable now) - you can download it from here:

Thanks. I'm still having trouble when I try to use Noise Removal with multiple tracks. I have used the Alt-R command to continue recording after editing, but when I try to do Noise Removal on all the tracks at the same time, that's where all tracks become stacked on top of one another. Is it necessary to do Noise Removal one track at a time?
