Audacity 1.2.x is now obsolete. Please use the current Audacity 2.1.x version.

The final version of Audacity for Windows 98/ME is the legacy 2.0.0 version.

I can't Record

Post by tdiamond75 » Wed Sep 02, 2009 10:56 pm

When I click the record button and error comes up and says " Please check the input device settings and the project sample rate." Is this a downloading failer or is there something I can do?

It's not a download failure.
That message means that Audacity cannot connect to your audio hardware.

If you are on Vista, it is probably because you do not have a recording input enabled, in which case you need to go into the Windows Control Panel and enable an input device.
See here for help with this: http://wiki.audacityteam.org/index.php? ... ng_devices

Also, if you are just starting with Audacity, it is probably a good time to install Audacity 1.3.9 (the old 1.2 version is virtually obsolete).

I have the same problem, and I have tested my microphone (it works) and it is set as my default. I
don't know what I should do.

What version of Audacity?
What operating system?
What recording/playback device options do you have in Audacity Preferences (Preferences can be found in the Effects menu).
