I use Nero at work (for simple video editing), and I like it - easy and quick to use. However I'm not at work at the moment. Do you know if Nero can be configured to capture video from one source (camera) and audio from another (sound card)?

I don't know about that - I don't actually use Nero for the capture as I have no video capture card in either of my PCs (I use the standalone Pinnacle Video Transfer device, which takes in the Audio source and pops it straight onto a USB stick or disc - great as it frees up the PC for other work, i.e I can edit one show while capturing another)

If I get time tomorrow I'll try to take a look in the Nero manual.

I just did a test. Sonar SE, which we got with the board, has similar behavior. While it doesn't stop recording, the audio levels suddenly drop to zero, mid-recording. This is while we are capturing video.

I'm thinking it's less a problem with Audacity and more problem with the USB IRQ. And we all know how fun THOSE are to fix.

I agree, though. It's probably best that we record using the sound card. I doubt it would suddenly stop randomly if we did that. I'll talk to my superior about isolating that buzz. If I can find the frequency, do you guys think that will help us find where it's coming from?

The first thing to check is leads and connections.
It is usually better to have all the equipment connected to the same power socket.
Sometimes moving the sound card to a different PCI socket can help.
