Audacity 1.2.x is now obsolete. Please use the current Audacity 2.1.x version.

The final version of Audacity for Windows 98/ME is the legacy 2.0.0 version.

Can't Load Module error in Windows 7

Post by Dreamcube017 » Thu Aug 27, 2009 4:42 pm

Hi everyone. I'm new here but I've been using Audacity for a while now.

I just got a new computer with Windows 7 on it and everything installed fine. But when I run it, I get a TON of "Can't load module" errors. I just downloaded it to this computer last Monday.

Here's a few of the errors I get.

Can't load module 'dehaupt DH_ModuleKey 1.0.2+'
Can't load module 'Mod_Osc CK2003a'
Can't load Module 'dehaupt PopupMenu 2.0.0.1+'
(20 unloaded modules later)
Can't load Module ''dehaupt_PopupMenu 2.0.0.1+'
Yeah, it comes up more than ones.
Ok so a lot of them repeat themselves, but it looks to me like it just can't load ANY of the things that the program needs and then it just comes up with a blank grey window and then I get an actual error.
I suppose I can try reinstalling FL Studio maybe?... but... I don't know why that would conflict with this.

Any ideas why NONE of the modeuls work... and there are LOTS of them too.

Thanks.
And it's the weirdest error ever...
"Another instance of FL Studio is already open."

Yes I do have FL Studio, but the program is NOT open at all.

I've just got back from holiday s I'm not yet up to speed with the latest changes with Audacity, but before I went there were several reports of compatibility problems with Audacity 1.3.8 and Fruity. The problem is with the VST plug-ins that FL uses. Audacity 1.3.8 is the first Audacity version that is natively VST aware, so I'm a bit confused why you should have this problem with Audacity 1.2.x. The only explanations I can think of are that either you have posted in the wrong part of the forum, or you have installed the VST bridge for Audacity 1.2.x. I suspect the former is the case. If so, try upgrading to the latest nightly build of Audacity which is available from here : http://wiki.audacityteam.org/index.php? ... tly_Builds and disable VST support in Audacity, or remove the FL VST effects from your computer.

I'm not using 1.2.x. I am using the 1.3.8 beta. I thought I said that.

Hmm... So I can't use FL Studio and Audacity on the same computer?... that's pretty... wonky. Would that cause everything in audacity to just stop working? Hmmmm... nightly build?... I'll try it out. Thanks.

This is the first version of Audacity that went out actively looking for plugins to install. The forum instantly filled up with people whose Audacity would not run because of odd, damaged, or unrecognized plugins.

The other applications do not have to be running. They load their own plugins and go to sleep. Audacity trips over them. I have two Audacity installs, one went perfectly and the other dragged and carried on and complained. It turned out that WireTap Studio, a capture program which never had plugins before, had decided to load a bunch of them when I wasn't looking. Remove the plugins and everything is fine.

You might try trashing Audacity and loading the latest nightly build, or drop back to Audacity 1.3.7 which is what I'm doing for serious production.
