My download of v1.2.6 went fine on XP/SP2 with Sigmatel Audio. (no built in mike, though)
As instructed at http://audacityteam.org/manual-1.2/tutorials.html, I reset the defaults as follows:
Audio playback /recording : Sigmatel Audio
File formats: make a copy of the file before editing
Temp directory: specified a new location on my disc
Also created a *test.aup* project in that directory
Then I played an audio webcast and hit record. Judging from the lack of any visible variation on the recording panel, I simply recorded a blank
Tried Play - restarted Audacity and tried again
No luck
Could somebody please advise what I'm missing? Must be something really basic!!
TIA
Can't record audio webcast

Re: Can't record audio webcast
You can continue to do that, or crank through these instructions and try to dig your way out that way.

I have enough different Windows installs that I gave up and use WireTap Pro on the Macs and Total Recorder for the PC. Both of them will allow unattended, scheduled recording whether I'm there or not.
