Weird random clicks

Post by Tzomborgha » Sun Aug 16, 2009 8:50 am

Hello,

i use audacity for 6+ months now with absolutely no problem at all to rip vinyl and tapes. Now im having a problem with my latest try to rip a tape (2 sidelong tracks, 20 minutes each) While the recording seems ok, i get random digital clicks and in every try they seem to be in different places. I turned off antiviruses and messengers but the problem seems to be there all the time. I even spent 6 hours defragmenting my external drive (as a friend told me to) and didn't work. Any help would be really appreciated. Thanks in advance! :D

If it took that long, then it's going to need it again, along with your c: drive. Six hours and the next trip through might take two hours and then a half-hour. If it takes longer than about five or ten minutes, then it reeeeely needed it.

Do an error check while you're in there.

You may have inadvertently told us what the problem is. Are you capturing to your external drive? Stop that. That only works with FireWire and serial digital drives and we assume you're using a USB drive.

What's the capacity of the drive and how much room is left?
