If I missed this in a search I appologize.
Downloaded and installed Audacity 1.2.6 -no problem
Downloaded lame plugin, installed into plugin folder within audacity -no problem
create sound file and try to export as an mp3. Audacity asks for location of lame_enc.dll. Navigate to the plugins folder and can see the .dll file. select the file and audacity behaves as if nothing has happened. Will not export.
Again, I need to stress that I can navigate to the folder, select the file. The .dll file is present in the plugin folder. Audacity just doesn't seem to "remember" the location. This problem happened on 2 identical machines today. 5 others worked flawlessly.
Things I have tried
1. Removed lame_enc.dll and reran setup
2. redownloaded lame and tried a reinstall
3. pulled lame_enc.dll from a working machine with a jump drive and tried replacing the file on the problem machine.
4. restart the problem machine
Thank you for your help!!

Re: can't export mp3 missing lame dll
Audacity 1.2 is now rather old, you will probably be best to update to 1.3.
