1.3 has more features/functionality added to it e.g. labelling is much better handled in 1.3, and 1.3 hasc an ace ne REpair effect for manually fixing click/pops. But be aware that 1.3 as Beta is billed as "Unstable" - i.e the developers are saying its work-in-progress and may be buggy or crash. Howeverm I have been using 1.3 for several months now for LP transcription/repair and has probled ably stable fot that.

I'm surprised that you can't open yopur 1.2 files in 1.3 - you should get a warning message, right? But then just go ahead and open it im 1.3. Just take careful note that once projects have beeen opened/created in 1.3 they can never be re-opened in 1.2.

HI THERE: I was also unable to access the Audacity download page. Went to the download.com site(HUGE, HUGE THANK-YOU to Jeeper1!!!) and after some trial and error, was able to download. Note: The Search box at the top of the page led to a download page which charges a fee. Instead, on the left side menu, click on "MP3 and Audio Software". On this page, down a bit on the left, under "Most Popular", click on "All 50 Most Popular Downloads". (Take heart, you're almost there). In #40 position is AUDACITY.
