sudden increase in speed during playback

Post by djbabyb-sidez » Thu Aug 06, 2009 7:58 am

I'm trying to figure out whether this is a problem with Audacity itself or if it's my computer/hardware. I use Audacity to record my dj sets and after about an hour of straight recording, when I play back the newly-recorded track the audio goes from the normal speed I recorded at to suddenly speeding up and going "chipmunk". It continues this way for the rest of the recording. My set-up is: I run the master output of my Behringer DJX700 mixer through an M-Audio MobilePre as my I/O thats connected via USB to the computer, then I record into Audacity using the MobilePre as my sound device. Is it that my computer doesn't have enough RAM and just poops out after a certain point? or is it a bug with the software? or is it the M-Audio device? I doubt it's the latter because I have used it in recording before with Nero and haven't experienced any problems like this. I read on another thread that other users were experiencing similar issues, but nobody had an answer.... :?

You may be running out of disk space and/or RAM.
If you close Audacity and then reopen it, all the temporary files and memory used by Audacity will be freed.
