I have the stable and newest versions of audacity on the same pc but need to uninstall both to save room on HD which will be dedicated to other tasks. I have no uninstall in add/remove nor can I find any uninstall functions in audacity folders on C drive. I've read through the forums and see info on the config file removal for preferences, etc. Can you provide instructions for complete removal of my versions? 1.2.6 & 1.3.9 alpha? Sorry if I've missed this somewhere.
Thanks I really enjoy audacity and have it on pcs all over where I record audio sermons, etc for archiving, youtube...the latest version is fantastic! Wiki and the general tutorials and info are extremely helpful!

Re: How to do complete uninstall?
1) Delete the Audacity folders from the C:Program Files directory
(that should be sufficient in most cases, but you asked for a total removal, so here's the other little bits...)
2) Open "regedit" (on Win XP Click "Start > Run" and type "regedit.exe" without the quotes - on Vista, use the application finder to locate regedit).
3) To be safe, make a backup of the registry, then look for "HKEY_CURRENT_USERSoftwareAudacity" and delete the Audacity listing from the registry.
4) For Win XP, delete the file "audacity.cfg" from Documents and Settings<user name>Application DataAudacity
For Vista, delete the file audacity.cfg from Users<user name>AppDataRoamingAudacity
If you have installed Lame, you may want to remove that separately - just delete it.

Re: How to do complete uninstall?
Thanks so much. I noticed this morning on our church pc, the 1.2.6 I had installed did have an uninstall in CP. So I took the executable off their machine and was going to overwrite the install tonight on mine but I will take your advice instead. Thanks for the complete directions including the regedit. I'll be back if I have any problems. Since learning audacity I have gone on to install and work with Ableton and Sonar and a little of Soundforge in my home studio. I owe most of what I learned to get me started from you guys at audacity and wiki! Thanks again. RK
