editing menu items greyed out
On a Vista Home Premium system I'm attempting to edit and MP3 file and I can select the portion that I want to delete. However, the DEL key doesn't do anything and the Cut menu item is greyed out. HELP!

The fuzzy generic advice is to stop using Audacity 1.2 on Vista. Audacity 1.2 has stopped development a long time ago and if you find a serious hole in it, give up. The current version is 1.3.8.

See if you can gracefully uninstall 1.2. You don't have to do that because 1.3 and 1.2 will coexist on one machine, but they keep their preference and housekeeping files very differently and it's cleaner without the 1.2 baggage.
