Part 2 -- I suspect my problem is a version issue, as all was well until I accidentally deleted by lame_enc.dll file. I tried to go to the official site, but I get a 403 Forbidden msg (what's that all about???), so I tried a version I found elsewhere. That doesn't help. I also have re-installed 1.2. I tried to install 1.3, but it comes in as an EFW file, and I can't open it. I have spent hours on what was supposed a quick favor for a friend -- the typical lament, I suppose.
Still get the chipmunk voice when exporting to MP3.

I've just tested the "libmp3lame-win-3.98.2.zip" download and it's working fine.
