Windows Vista through Proel M500 Mixer Amp.

I have recently purchased a Proel M500USB Mixer Amp. I use Windows Vista operating system. I have tried initial VOICE recording. But my problem is that, whereas it SEEMS to be recording OK, I cannot hear any playback!! Can you help me please?

Where are you expecting to hear the sound from? The mixer or your sound card?
What do you have set as the playback device in "Edit > Preferences > Audio I/O"?

I am trying to hear my recording through the Mixer Amp. My latest attempts have resulted in a very subdued playback...despite the fact that the Speaker (and Mic) settings are set to maximum!

My Playback Device in Edit > Preferences > Audio I/O is set for Speakers (2-USB Audio CODEC). However, on my Toolbar......to the right of the Speaker & Mic Volume settings...... the box is BLANK...(Grey). Could THIS be my problem? I am very anxious to use this recording facility a.s.a.p.

I would suggest upgrading to Audacity 1.3.8 - there's been a lot of work done recently on supporting more hardware, and on the mixer side particularly.

If you already have a lot of VST effects installed on your computer it may be better to go for Audacity 1.3.7 as there have been some compatibility issues raised, otherwise try 1.3.8

Hi again Steve! Thanks for your great help and suggestion about trying the Audacity 1.3.7 (Beta) version. It works!! I now have a tiny problem on the recording side.....but I will put that up as a TOTALLY separate item in the Forum. Many thanks again for your kind help! Eddie.
