I record interviews for a radio show using skype with pamela recording software. Oftentimes the interviewee is on a cell phone which can yield wave files with great fluctuations.
What is the quickest and easiest way to balance out the waves so they are uniform in sound? The envelope tool? I've looked at the help files and online documentation and it is probably good if you know all the lingo and are experienced at this but if you are not it is hard to understand.
Also ... appreciate an easy to understand explanation of what Equalization and Compressor accomplish.
Thank You

Re: Balancing Out Sound Waves
Not sure what you mean by "fluctuations" - do you mean the volume goes up and down? If so, try Chris's Dynamic Compressor. http://pdf23ds.net/software/dynamic-compressor/Double B wrote:Oftentimes the interviewee is on a cell phone which can yield wave files with great fluctuations.
