Audacity 1.2.6 Download fail

Post by xxxemikoxxx » Thu Jul 16, 2009 12:49 pm

I had installed Audacity 1.2.6 on my laptop(Vista is my OS) It worked great! I loved it. Then my computer hard drive got totally wiped out. I had to reinstall EVERYTHING. I have my computer do a backup to and external harddrive everynight, so nothing was lost except all of my programs. I went to install Audacity 1.2.6 again and I got this erroro message:: The setup files are corrupted. Please obtain a new copy of the program. --I tried the directlink, and EVERY mirror and got the same error message. I downloaded 1.3.7, and the download went smoothly. But when I went to record, it gives me this error message-- Error while opening sound device. Please check the input device settings and the project sample rate. :: Well, my input device would be my Logitech USB Microphone..so I checked that out in the device manager whatever thinggyy and it said that it was worker fine. I had it look for an updated driver, but nothing showed up. Then I tested the mic with the sound recorder that came with vitsa. The mic functioned properly. Therefore, it is a problem with Audacity

If anybody could help me out, it would be much appreciated

Thank you for taking the time to read this~~

For Vista we always recommend Audacity 1.3 rather than the old 1.2 version.

In Audacity, go to "Edit menu > Preferences > Audio I/O"
What options do you have selected for the recording and playback devices?
What other options are available?

Be sure to connect your USB microphone before you open Audacity.
