copying part of song

I just want to put a piece of the song on my phone and make it smaller. I'm not sure how to just record the first 30 seconds or so and then save that file?
Hi nate,
Import the song to Audacity. (File - Open - browse to file)
Click on the + button to make the view larger.
Put the cursor where you want to end your selection.
Edit - Select - Start to cursor.
File - export selection as MP3.
Choose filename and destination.
