echo while recording

Post by charlija » Sat Jul 11, 2009 5:06 pm

I use Audacity in a very basic way -- I just record my old albums and make MP3s and CDs. Suddenly, while I'm recording I get an echo on the voices. The recording itself is fine -- this is the sound that I'm listening to through my computer speakers. It's very annoying, especially since I like to listen while the album is recording so that I can divvy up and label the tracks.
Does anyone know what might be causing this problem and how to fix it?

You're probably listening to Stereo Mix (the computer output) and the Line-In at the same time. One will be late compared to the other.

Sometimes you get get this by having too many things turned on in the Windows Control Panel.
