Completed project - how to burn on Cd
Ok, so I'm extremely technically challenged. I'm sorry. It's a miracle I found the audacity program and figured out how to do what I wanted to do. Now, however, I can't seem to get my project to just burn on a cd!!!! I've tried everything I know to try. I recorded my project on desktop and right clicked to burn to cd. It says it's there but when I go to open it, it cannot locate the file. I eventually want what I've recorded to go to my ipod. I'm sure this is so simple, but can someone please help me? Please??

Re: Completed project - how to burn on Cd
Projects are easy to damage if you move files around. Does the Project and show still open and play OK? While it's open, File > Export As WAV and call it something simple with no punctuation marks in the filename. That will be a good, stand-alone sound file and you should be able to open that up in Windows Media (or iTunes) and burn a Music CD.
Post back where you get stuck -- if at all.

Doesn't bother us a bit. Let us know how it goes, including if you got it to work. Detail is good. include the steps you took just before you got stuck.
Audacity Projects are not sound files. That's why what you did didn't work.
Computer file names can contain upper and lower case letters, numbers, underscore, and dash. Any other character may cause computer instability. Being compulsive and being as I have to deal with all three types of computers, I don't use spaces, either.

That's why you occasionally see files written like that. Dates kill people. Never put a slash mark in a name. 20090709 That's today.

I have saved the file, it opens and plays perfectly. I imported it as a WAV file. Where do I go to find the WAV file?
Re: Completed project - how to burn on Cd
Also, I tried to open the file that I re-saved on the desktop with windows media player and it wouldn't let me.

<<<I have saved the file>>>
You need to get compulsive with us. Audacity doesn't save sound files. It only saves Projects. Projects don't work with anything outside of Audacity and they won't make a Music CD.
Once you have your show finished in Audacity, File > Export As WAV (not Import) and Windows will start asking you where to put the music file (WAV) and what to call it. Call it something unique so you can use Windows search to find it later.
Windows likes to hide the last three letters of the filename, so MyViolin.wav will look like just MyViolin to you. Right-click the music file > Open With > Windows Media Player.

Re: Completed project - how to burn on Cd
Wow! Thanks for your patience. I'm making progress!!! I get it. I've saved it, then opened it and it ran beautifully on windows media player. Then I burned the CD and the sound level was too low to hear. What did I do wrong now???
