Audacity 1.2.x is now obsolete. Please use the current Audacity 2.1.x version.

The final version of Audacity for Windows 98/ME is the legacy 2.0.0 version.

Audacity Killed My Sound

Post by ichabod » Sat Jul 04, 2009 6:19 pm

I'm using Audacity 1.2.6 on Windows XP with the Ion USB turntable. I got it all set up, recorded some old records, exported mp3 files, all fine. Except now no other program can make sound. I looked through the online manual and poked around here, and tried a few things, but nothing seems to work. How do I get my sound back.

Generally, when Windows encounters a USB Sound Device, it assumes record...and playback. So it's probably sending your Nine Inch Nails playback out to the turntable instead of the speakers.

Fix in Windows Control Panel.
