Lost audio

My problem sounds similar to one posted below. I can provide more details, and it is fully repeatable.

I have three projects that I edited from .wmv files. At the time I edited and saved the projects a few days ago everything worked fine.

Now when I open one of the files, the visual display shows and the cursor moves down the track, but there is no audio when I playback. Also the level lights don't flash.

Another file plays back part of the track successfully and then cuts out, even though the visual track display is still there and the cursor is still moving. It just stops, like someone pulled out my headphone jack. It seems to cut out in the same place every time.

I've checked the audio devices in "preferences" and in Windows and they are all correct.

I'm running Audacity 1.2.6 on Windows XP Pro. I would greatly appreciate any suggestions.

And to continue that thought, then you either moved the project or moved, deleted, cleaned up or renamed the original sound files. Right after that, the contribution to the show from those files vanished.

Audacity Projects aren't sound files. To get an actual sound file, you have to Export one. Can you put right all the changes you made just before the show became damaged?

You are absolutely right! I renamed some folders in an attempt to rename the project. I will try to put things back the way they was.
