a recording was not saved to an audacity project file (.aup), missing the .aup file but have the temp .au files.
How can these many .au files best be pieced back together again to create the original recording and a new aup file?
unsaved aup file: can it still be saved?

As a practical matter, probably not.
By the way, at least the first two data (au) files are pictures, not audio.
