Problems with Audacity and Windows Vista

I have Vist home service package 1 on my new hp laptop. I have
3.0 GB of RAM
241 GB of Memory
Dual Core processor
32 bit

Two problems
1. When I try to record sometimes when I stop the recording to save I get the following message:
audacity.exe has stopped working.

The file does not save. How do I fix this?

2. I also receive the following message later on when I have to restart:
Warning: found temporary files. Aud. can't recover automatically. Must recover manually.

I cannot find my these temporary files. How do I find them?

Try upgrading to Audacity 1.3.7 and with a bit of luck these problems will evaporate (Audacity 1.2 is very old now and sometimes has trouble on modern systems).
