Can't record from Seal USB Turntable
I have Audacity 1.2.6 which came with my turntable, however I can't record from the turntable. I'm on Windows Vista and am plugging in the USB cable to my pc. No sound comes through my speakers when I play a record and there is no response from the software when I try to record. Any ideas please?

Re: Can't record from Seal USB Turntable
Thanks, Steve, but still can't get sound through my pc speakers. Then options I have to select in preferences are not on my menus! My turntable berings up 'Microphone AK5371' instead of 'USB Audio Codec' option in the Preferences, Audio I/O, Recordings menu. Selecting the microphone option doesn't make any difference. Can I get drivers for the turntable anywhere? Have checked on-line, but can't find Seal drivers. Don't know why my computer recognises it as a microphone.
Re: Can't record from Seal USB Turntable
The AK5371 is the A/D USB converter chip. It was originally designed for providing a USB interface for stereo microphones, but is commonly used in turntables.
The USB device must be connected before you open Audacity.
The Recording device must be set for the turntable (AK5371)
The playback device must be set for your sound card.
The usual (recommended) way to monitor the turntable is by connecting the phono connectors of the turntable to an amplifier.
If you want/need to monitor through the computer, then you need to switch on "software playthrough" in Audacity. I think you will find it in "Edit menu > Preferences > Audio I/O".
Note that using software playthrough there is a small delay (perhaps half a second) between the sound going into the computer and coming back out through the speakers.
