Recording (Loud/Distorted)

i was recording yesterday and it was recording perfectly
so i oped audacity today and started to record music, when i was done i played it and it was very loud and distorted

But you didn't test it on music, did you? You tested it on a microphone or the machine's built in microphone?
Music from an iPod, Cassette Machine, Music CD Player or MP3 Player is much higher sound level than a microphone. You need to change the computer connection to Line-In (blue?) instead of Mic-In (pink). Some computers can change one connector between the two services -- check your machine instructions.
If none of that works for you, then you can't plug a stereo, high volume, high quality show into your computer. You can buy a USB sound device to connect instead.

i was recording music before to, when it was working fine and i didnt need to change any thing, or i didnt change anything after i finished yesterday

Then we need to know what you were recording and how it was connected and to what kind of computer. You may now have a specific connection problem which we can't address because we don't have any specifics on your computer.
