Volume Equalisation

On a multi track recording is there anyway to equalise the volume of individual tracks without resorting to adjusting each one?

One of the complaints with "Normalize" is that it affects each channel, left and right, separately. Neither Normalize nor Amplify work on loudness, just waveform size, but it's a start.
