I shortened a song on Audacity and saved as MP3 (It do have the LAME dll installed). It plays fine on Media Player, but my Roxio Slideshow maker says the file is corrupt. Please help in lay terms. I am not very technical. Thanks!

When Audacity installs, it assumes odd sound standards. You can change them in Audacity Preferences.

Edit > Preferences > Quality > 44100, 16-bit

Edit > Preferences > Audio I/O > 2 (Stereo)

Restart Audacity to make sure the settings stick.

MP3 music made with the original Audacity First Birthday settings has troubles on some players.

Also, there have been a number of weird problems reported with MP3 encoding on Audacity 1.2.x due to compatibility problems between new versions of LAME and the old version of Audacity. The solution to this is to upgrade Audacity to the current version (1.3.7) and install "Lame for Audacity" http://audacityteam.org/forum/viewtopic.php?f=16&t=9175

I very much doubt that this will get fixed in Audacity 1.2 as the "stable" version of Audacity is due to be replaced soon.
