Hi,
I'm having problems opening wav files in Audacity - whilst they play fine in windows media player, when I open them in Audacity they are just white noise.
I'm wondering if it's a problem with the format of the wav files having read some other posts.
In the properties file of the wav file, the audio format is listed as DSP Group TrueSpeech (TM)
The files were recorded using a call monitoring system used in a call centre.
Any help would be much appreciated!

Re: White noise when opening wav files
By "WAV" file, we mean 44100, 16-bit, Stereo, Binary Coded Decimal, not an answering machine or communications format. You may need to convert your clips with Super or Switch (download) to get them in a form that Audacity can edit.
I'm sure there are other converters out there, but you need to make sure they understand the format you have. The authors of the format may have some ideas. I know of no way to force Windows Media to convert for you....unless...
Windows Media converts everything to WMA format, and somebody will correct me, Audacity 1.3 can speak WMA. Yes?
