well much to my amazement i got it to record in vista!
i am recording internally from the "computers speakers"
but i am used (XP) to clearly seeing the 'signal' the line going up and down as it records.
I assume the amplification somewhere is too low.
it sounds loud enough - just the line is barely a ripple.
the red volume of the input is about 50% across the range.
hopefully this makes sense.
